We met at a work Christmas party at Mr. Purple 7 years ago. Depending on who you ask, you’ll get different versions of that story. Ron will claim I blew him off. I will say, you have to make a move to be blown off 👀. For almost a year after this, we didn’t see each that often as we worked on different floors, but we had mutual friends. After mingling with each other at a few different friend’s parties, crushes developed. One day a group of us planned a brunch, but our friends backed out last minute (only time having flaky friends was a blessing lol). Luckily, Ron still suggested we grab brunch, and the rest is history.
On a trip to visit a couple of my favorite places to celebrate my 30th birthday, another celebration was in store. Ron had been planning to propose for a while. He originally planned on popping the question at our first stop in Big Bend on a hike of the Window Trail. However, the ring wasn’t going to get there in time, so he shipped it to our next hotel in Marfa. He then planned on proposing at the Prada Marfa art installation, but plans changed once again. However, finally, after a lovely day of exploring Marfa, shopping, and eating Dairy Queen while watching the Marfa Lights, we went back to the Paisano Hotel where we were staying. Our room was on the first floor and had an outdoor patio attached to it. We went outside, lit a fire, and planned on watching a reality TV show under the bright stars 😂. Before we put on the show, we talked about our day and Ron said that he wanted to have so many more fun days like this with me. Then he walked around the table, got on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I said ‘of course’. 🥰
